WHO & WHAT ARE YOU CELEBRATING THIS WEEK?
THE PROBLEM: Our focus is often on what we AND others can’t do… rather than celebrating what we/they can do. Focusing on what we can’t do shifts us to a negative mindset, which makes it harder for everyone to accomplish their goals, and tasks at hand…. and keeps us from moving forward and raising up our places in life.
THE WORD: THE APOSTLE PAUL IS A MASTER AT THIS. In his writings, we read example after example of him opening his letters by first celebrating the reader, even though he later will be addressing problems.
Let’s face it… we do have some problems today. In the midst of COVID-19 many of us are short on money, we dealing with a new level of isolation, we’re hearing tough news and this leaves many of us anxious and fearful.
The truth is we don’t have to be – God is over this all, with Him we will prevail…
Today’s show is just ONE WAY TO HELP US & OUR FAMILIES FOLLOW THE TEACHING OF GOD…AS WE DEAL.
Ephesians 1:15 Paul writes to the people in Ephesus, “For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.”
What I want us to remember is that In this circular letter to the Churches, he also cautions them to practice unity and gives them specific instructions for Christian living.
Faith in Jesus & love for the saints… being the precursor to Loving Unity. Loving unity
Right now, in this hard time…Let’s teach our children how to find unity through love, LOVE knows no boundaries are we sharing love?
Philippians 1:3-6To the Philippians, Paul opens his letter with, “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” He later urges two individuals to reconcile and warns against false teaching infiltrating the Church.
Partnership w/ the Gospel-being confident in it-He who made you is w/ you through it all till that day
Let’s reconcile w/ God, so we know truth and false teaching. (Life in Christ,)
Colossians 1:3-4 To the Colossians, he states, “We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints.”In much of this letter, he addresses outside philosophies that are leading them astray.
So is it the false teaching that I’m impressing or is it more that we lean on Faith in Jesus & 1st give praise
Paul sets a wonderful example for us to first celebrate the good that people are accomplishing before addressing issues. We can follow his example at work, home, and in the community by:
- Thanking God for the people around us and letting the people know we are praying and thanking God for them. President and each governor, our friends our pastors.
- Being specific and telling them why you are thankful. (Neighbor with a note.)
- Encouraging them to keep up the good work because it is making a difference. Hospital
- Asking the person(s) how you can help them or be praying for them. LOVE THEM Check with the church.
As we show gratitude for what others do and celebrate who they are, it becomes easier to take care of the hard issues when they arise.
THE GIFT: When we celebrate others, it makes a difference in everyone’s lives. It…
- Increases optimism.
- Decreases stress.
- Shows appreciation and acceptance.
- Recognizes excellence
- Builds a culture of trust
- Generates an abundance mentality.
- Builds memorials that we can reflect on when things aren’t going well.
- Inspires.
- Rewires the brain to a more positive mindset.
- Is what Jesus would have us do.
THE CHOICE: Choosing to celebrate and thank God for other people and then expressing our appreciation to them, helps everyone spiritually and emotionally.
So, let’s pray for what we cannot control and CELEBRATE even the small wins we have today.
