THE WILL TO WAIT
/

Webster’s defines patience as, “the quality of being capable of bearing affliction calmly.”

GOD HAS A WILL FOR YOU…ARE WILLING TO WALK IT OUT?

THE PROBLEM: NOT KNOWING WHEN, HOW, OR IF. Doubt, frustration, impatience can set in. But I challenge us to think about waiting. Is that truly the problem? We often do well waiting but then sometimes not…what is the difference. I think it is when we lose sight, hope.

WAITING = WONDERING = WANDERING

THE WORD: Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12

  1. PRIORITIZE: We need to a look from the outside in and truly understands the situation. How important is this problem? Our emotions, flesh and so can get us off on just what we are waiting for.
    1. Maybe you are being prepared.
    2. Proverbs 24:27 Prepare your work outside; get everything ready for yourself in the field, and after that build your house.
      1. Write it out
      2. Find Bible verses that support this desire
      3. Meditate on it.
  1. PLAN: This is where can go wrong with time. We have to remember the race we are running. “Look a chicken” Have a plan and stay true Patience requires us to know what we are going to do. Planning is a critical management task that affirms confidence.
    1. Proverbs 21:5 The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.
      1. Pray
      2. Stay focused on today
      3. Inline with God
  1. PURSUE HELP: Any good program manager knows that the best we do best together. Iron sharpens Iron. They can help prepare you. Get you prepared faster.
    1. Proverbs 15:22 Without advice plans go wrong, but with many advisers, they succeed.
  2. PERSISTENT PACE: Having the confidence to stick to your plan is challenging. Hold your ground when others attack you, and make sure you deliver on your commitments.
    1. Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
    2. Pace yourself…Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
  3. PREPARED: to respond to the unexpected.
    1. The Armor of God…Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

  • Laurree: is waiting for God to bring her a Godly man. She had a trying marriage that ended in divorce from a man that didn’t want anything to do with faith, was trapped by addiction and a need for power achieved through abusing control on her. She now is deep into her faith and wants a godly man but finds that this is out of the norm. She battles feeling worthy of it as well.
    • PLAN section
  • Cam: is waiting for his finances to fall into place. Has a family, bending over backward to provide-give-and get ahead. They do not understand and he has trouble saying no.
